The first train rode in 1839.
Farmers thought that the milk would turn sour.
Drivers that their horses would rear up.
Doctors predicted brain diseases and sailors feared for their jobs.

During the month of August a man will be working in the field of a farmer next to the railway tracks in Winksele (Belgium).
He addresses himself to the passing trains and wants to say something.
He wants the train to stop, everybody to get off and sit down so he can talk with ease.

About different things
About what’s in the newspaper,
About the weather
About sadness
About the crisis,
The world order, ecology, animals threatened with extinction, about sad advertising, illness, stupidity and beauty, about the beginning, the end and the point of no return.

About a lot
About a whole lot

TOWER / a show for commuters

Starting August 1st 2009 somebody in a field next to the railway tracks in Winksele (Belgium) is trying to attract the attention of train passengers. While the train rages by, he has 2 seconds to deliver his message. Every day he tries more, harder, bigger. Strange constructions start growing in the field. He wants the people to get off and take the time to listen to him.
Maybe the train will stop on September 1st

In an increasingly complex world where everything is flattened by acceleration, artists Menno Vandevelde, Michiel Vandevelde and Jozef Wouters create the time and space to communicate. About small things that are important, about important things that are complicated. Their actions start minimally but as the month progresses they become bigger. They will be working towards September 1st. On that day they will invite 31 guests to speak about the world. You are welcome too.

Menno Vandevelde, Michiel Vandevelde and Jozef Wouters make up the company MENNO/MICHIEL/JOZEF. Together they created several theatre and dance pieces, installations and performances. Starting from their different backgrounds – as an engineer (Menno), dancer (Michiel) and scenographer (Jozef) – they want to create emotion and amazement.
