Joy 2022








         Sexuality, intimacy and non-normativity. In a sensual and soft composition comprised of movement, text, historical references, and (TikTok)sounds, choreographer Michiel Vandevelde is joined by the ensemble members of the Münchner Kammerspiele and protagonists from the sex positivity scene to explore our modern-day understanding of sexuality. Travelling through histories of sexuality they playfully sketch a portrait of how a joyful queer life today could be. With the societal background of the rise of conservative (online) masculine toxicity and an increasing sex-negative culture, this performance makes a soft fist against those who want to capture our vulnerabilities and pleasures into rigid frames. Call it ‘sex-positive’, ‘sex critical’ or ‘sex-questioning’: Joy 2022 aims to celebrate the multiple perspectives on physical pleasures, desires and fantasies.
